About Dr Rachana

Neonatologist, Pediatrician and Lactation Consultant with nearly 10 years of experience in newborn and child care.

I am a Neonatologist and Pediatrician with nearly 10 years of experience in newborn and child care, with a special interest in prematurity, growth and development. I completed my superspecialty training in Neonatology at a premier institute with extensive experience in caring for extremely preterm, moderate and late preterm babies, as well as extremely low birth weight (ELBW), very low birth weight (VLBW) and low birth weight (LBW) newborns.

Over the years, I have cared for numerous high-risk and premature babies through their NICU journey, discharge and follow-up, with a strong focus on achieving the best possible growth and neurodevelopmental outcomes. My expertise extends beyond NICU care to post-discharge preterm follow-up, growth monitoring, corrected-age assessment, developmental milestones and early identification of developmental concerns.

I am trained in Bayley developmental assessment, which helps in structured evaluation of infant and toddler development. I am also faculty and a trainer in Neonatal Resuscitation, teaching healthcare professionals the skills required to resuscitate and stabilize newborns at birth. I have participated in and conducted multiple academic sessions and workshops on neonatal ventilation, newborn care and lactation.

Parents can consult me for concerns related to prematurity, growth, developmental milestones, feeding and complementary feeding, sleep, lactation and other common newborn and infant concerns, with guidance tailored to their baby’s individual needs.

Little Steps Growth Tracker

Understand your child’s growth pattern instead of worrying about one isolated number. Little Steps helps parents record serial measurements, view WHO growth charts and receive a clear, parent-friendly summary of what the growth trend may mean.

  • For children from birth to 5 years
  • WHO growth standards and Z-scores
  • Weight, length/height and head circumference
  • Corrected age for preterm babies up to 24 months
  • IUGR / FGR or SGA history considered
  • Serial trend tracking across measurements
  • Downloadable personalised growth report
  • Measurement-quality checks before interpretation
  • Clear next-step guidance when a trend needs review

By purchasing, you receive authorized access to Little Steps Growth Tracker. Redistribution, resale, reproduction or offering the tracker as your own product is not permitted.

Little Steps is an educational growth-screening aid and does not replace a medical consultation, physical examination or clinical diagnosis. Growth should be interpreted together with measurement quality, feeding, health, development and the child’s individual clinical context.

Important notes

  • Use the original 40-week expected date of delivery.
  • Corrected age is mainly used in preterm follow-up during the first 2 years.
  • After about 2 years, chronological age is generally used for routine age-based developmental expectations.
  • Corrected age is used for growth, development, milestones and starting solids, but not for vaccination.
